This edition brings you our round-up from the NAB 2007 Convention. For information released prior to the event please see our March and April preview editions. The show felt a little different this year with some of the major players moving from their traditional spots - and for the first time in our 14 years of attending, it was cold outside! The uncomfortable Apple vs Avid scrum that has greeted anyone entering the South Hall for the past couple of years was avoided due to relocating the Apple extravaganza further down the hall. Some editorials have taken the line that this was a rather dull NAB, but we found that there was plenty to keep us busy for the four days. It is fair to say that high definition capability no longer makes headlines, but there is a move to higher resolutions with Quantel and DVS, to name but two companies, supporting 4K post production. Tapeless acquisition and workflow also continues to develop. Apple caused a stir with the introduction of Final Cut Server media asset management and workflow automation for Final Cut Studio 2, and there was a constant queue around the Red booth for the opportunity to see the latest results from the Red One digital film camera.
