News Accom Shows Latest Developments for SD/HD Production and Post-Production at NAB 2005 (16/3/2005) Axial(R)/MX Accom is pleased to announce that Axial/MX, the industry-standard edit controller, now supports SD/HD Live Video. Axial/MX's video windows can now pass video in either SD or HD. Running on the same application as its predecessor, the Axial 3000, the Axial/MX is capable of faster editing in all SD and HD formats, including 24P, in a smaller, lighter chassis. AirCleaner(TM) Launching at NAB 2005, AirCleaner is an SD/HD audio/video delay unit for today's live-to-air broadcasts. AirCleaner, housed in a 1RU chassis with a front panel LCD screen for easy operation and setup, accepts either standard definition or high definition SDI video signals and up to eight channels of AES/EBU audio with 24bit resolution at 48kHz. It allows a maximum delay of up to 10 seconds in HD formats (1080:60i, 59.94i, 50i or 1080:30psf, 29.97psf, 25psf, 24psf, 23.98psf or 720:60p, 59.94p) and up to 30 seconds in SD formats (525/59.94i and 625/50i). The audio and video can be timed together or independently. AirCleaner also accepts embedded audio, and is equipped with two video inputs as well as two (eight channel) audio inputs. Upon a ÒviolationÓ the video can be programmed to either defocus the current video or switch to the second auxiliary input. The audio can also be programmed to switch to the second auxiliary input or it can be programmed to either mute or tone. There is a wide array of operator choices, ranging from the amount of video defocus, to the frequency and amplitude of the audio tone. MultiFlexMX(TM) Accom is pleased to introduce its MultiFlexMX SD/HD production server and EasyClip(TM) server-based clip composing software at NAB 2005. The MultiFlexMX continues the tradition of excellence in Accom production servers by delivering an uncompromised high performance feature set, Media Management software, faster than real-time network media transfers, scaleable high capacity RAID storage and rock solid, 24/7 reliability. The MultiFlexMX does all this and more at a price point that is easy on the budget. This new video production server allows mix and match of SD and HD channels using new high-quality JPEG-2000 compression technology. The MultiFlexMX can record or play up to eight SD streams, or up to four HD streams, or any combination of SD/HD streams in the same chassis. No other production server offers this level of power, reliability and flexibility. APR(R)/ClipStoreMX(TM) Being unveiled for the first time at NAB 2005 is APR/ClipStoreMX, representing a dramatic breakthrough in uncompressed SD/HD disk recording technology. APR/ClipStoreMX is the latest universal format multi-definition digital disk recorder from Accom for the professional marketplace, providing both SD and HD uncompressed video+key+audio (VKA) record and playback in a single disk recorder. APR/ClipStoreMX is based upon a new hardware platform with the very latest state-of-the-art SD/HD video+key+audio processing hardware designed by Accom - coupled with an attractive, newly designed NetPanel(TM) browser-based graphical user interface. The APR/ClipStoreMX comes standard with both SD and HD 10-bit SDI, with eight tracks (four AES stereo pairs) of 24-bit digital audio. This VKA record and playback capability is coupled with two-and-a-half hours of uncompressed HD recording capacity with RAID-3 parity protection (equating to well over 15 hours of SD recording). All of the popular HD video formats and frame rates are supported, including dual-link 24p 4:4:4 RGB. Remarkably, all this capability is contained inside a compact 3RU chassis. APR/ClipStoreMX is targeted at a wide variety of applications including: telecine, digital film, production & post-production, DVD authoring & encoding as well as scientific visualization - all where uncompressed video quality is of the highest importance and low cost is a critical factor. Even with its extremely rich feature set, APR/ClipStoreMX has a list price less than half that of previous generations of uncompressed HD disk recorders! APR/ClipStoreMX will be available for shipment in June 2005. APR(R)/ClipStoreMXc(TM) Also unveiling for the first time at NAB 2005 is APR/ClipStoreMXc, representing a dramatic breakthrough in compressed HD disk recording. APR/ClipStoreMXc offers an almost identical feature set to the uncompressed APR/ClipStoreMX, but in addition offers JPEG-2000 compressed HD 10-bit digital video and key recording, as well as uncompressed SD 10-bit digital video and key recording. The included eight tracks (four AES stereo pairs) of digital audio in the APR/ClipStoreMXc have 24-bit resolution. APR/ClipStoreMXc comes standard with video+key+audio (VKA) record and playback capability and over four hours of compressed HD VKA recording capacity (two hours of uncompressed SD VKA recording), all contained within a compact 3RU chassis. The user also has the ability to ÒstripeÓ the video and key disk drives together into a single video-only volume, providing over eight hours of compressed HD video/audio recording capacity. The APR/ClipStoreMXc is based upon the established APR/ClipStore platform, combined with the new and powerful Accom-designed, state-of-the-art SD/HD VKA processing hardware and an attractive, newly designed NetPanel(TM) user interface. The APR/ClipStoreMXc is also targeted at a wide variety of applications, but with a different focus - including: production, live remote and studio broadcast, graphics presentation, digital signage, broadcast playout and stage presentation. Even with such a wide-ranging feature set, APR/ClipStoreMXc has a list price less than half that of competing compressed HD digital disk recorders - falling far below the cost that competing manufacturers charge for an SD-only machine! Users can finally have an HD disk recorder for the price of SD. APR/ClipStoreMXc will be available for shipment in June 2005.
