DVC Launches a new Family of ScreenDisk Products (29/3/2005)

DVC (Digitalvideo Computing) has launched a new family of ScreenDisk products offering an open platform for the uncompressed recording and playback of SD, HD, 2K & film data. Within this range, the ClipRecorder series of uncompressed HD & SD disk recorders has been extended with more powerful multi-standard and multi-channel models.

The ClipRecorder Light can now store and record both HD & SD SDI video with 6 channel AES / embedded Audio. The extremely reliable internal SCSI disk array can be enlarged up to 2.4 terabytes. The entry-level model with 66 min HD 1080p25 or 330 min SD 625i50 costs under £11,000 and is available now.

This package contains all the usual ClipRecorder features including:

* _ Direct recording of standard file types onto a standard NTFS file system;
* _ RS.422 Master and Slave Control and
* _ SD, HD and 2K support for all common formats.

The top of the range ClipRecorder XTreme will feature the new XENA2 (formerly referred to as KONA2) uncompressed multi-standard I/O boards. ClipRecorder XTreme models have Dual-Link HD, HD & SD input and outputs with 8 or 10 bit, and the option to operate in 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 modes. In addition, an analogue component output with 12-bit D/A conversion is available. With the XENA2 I/O channel hardware up-and-down conversion from HD to SD and vice versa will be supported. The new server platform used for ClipRecorder XTreme allows the use of multiple XENA I/O boards and thereby provides a true multi-standard multi-channel device. Further highlights of the ClipRecorder XTreme are its Dual XEON processors up to 3.6 GHz and PCI-Express high-end graphics. The disk array is based on approved and reliable SCSI technology and can be expanded up to 6 Terabytes. Additionally a Quad-Fibre-Controller for a SAN connection is an option.

The ClipRecorder XTreme comes with the Drastic MediaReactor file converter, transcoder and encoder and the IRIDAS FrameCycler Player software. With the myriad of I/O possibilities and the extreme computing power, the ClipRecorder XTreme is the ideal multi-standard HD server for high-end post and film processing. The ClipRecorder XTreme will be available after NAB.

Both the ClipRecorder Light and XTreme will be demonstrated at the DVC Stand C7034 at NAB, Las Vegas next month.
