News HDV settles on Miller's SOLO DS10 (15/4/2005) The Miller SOLO DS10 tripod delivers the smoothness, stability and light weight essential for HDV photogs to create true widescreen imagery. Add the SOLO's 12" - 6' height range and 5lb - 10lb selectable spring payload and you're shooting with the strongest and lightest carbon fiber support around. The DS10 true fluid head is the current choice of DVX100 and XL1/2 videographers. With the launch of the 2-stage telescoping SOLO Carbon tripod, HDV now gets the backlash-free pan and tilt action Miller is renowned for plus a go-anywhere ball leveling tripod with a minimum part count, rubber or spiked feet and a rapid-fire ring clamping system. "The DV shooter's demands of stability, pro features and light weight were not being met." explains Miller MD Grant Clementson, "Sure, you can get friction heads on cheap, unstable tripods, but they may only last a year and the images will suffer. The solution to this use to be bulky and expensive overkill - until SOLO!" Miller's 3-year warranty backs up the design and construction - anti-corrsosive magnesium & aluminum castings and injection moulded engineering polymers designed for long term professional use under the most hostile location conditions. "As the consumer uptake of HD grows, so the professional use of mini HDV camcorders will increase - and there's no guessing which images, shaky or stable, will get most of the airtime."
