Autodesk Streamlines Post-Production Process by Supporting Native Data Structures of Final Cut Pro (5/5/2005)

Autodesk, Inc. today announced that the latest versions of its Discreet Fire(r) and Discreet(r) Smoke(r) editing/finishing systems support Apple(r)'s Final Cut Pro(r).XML interchange format. This integration improves workflows for creative professionals using both Final Cut Pro and Discreet systems, allowing them to realize their ideas with greater ease. Editorial decisions made in Final Cut Pro are directly transferable to Discreet systems, simplifying the post-production process.

"Many customers are adopting multi-vendor workflows, and Autodesk is committed to supporting leading standards that provide maximum flexibility in production environments," said Marc Petit, vice president of Product Development and Operations, Autodesk Media and Entertainment Division. "Final Cut Pro is the editorial tool of choice for numerous professionals - many of whom also rely on Discreet systems to provide interactive visual effects and to conform editorial functions. The integration of our products with Final Cut Pro provides a streamlined exchange of compositions and enhances the creative process."

"The legendary power, ease of use and affordability of Final Cut Pro has revolutionized professional video editing," said Ron Okamoto, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. "Autodesk's support of the XML interchange format will enable unprecedented workflow productivity between today's most popular editing and compositing applications and undoubtedly drive further innovation and creativity."

Creative professionals doing feature film, episodic or broadcast work often have post-production environments in which Final Cut Pro is used alongside Fire and Smoke systems. Final Cut Pro is Apple's creative, professional and extensible tool for editing and finishing.
