News Fairlight Launches Audiobase 3 Sound Library System at NAB 2005 (11/5/2005) Supercharging the efficiency of its Audiobase Sound Library System, Fairlight today launched the newest iteration, Audiobase 3, at NAB 2005. Audiobase3 enables searches within hard drives, networks, Extranet systems and the Internet and also accommodates multiple file formats including iTunes. Commenting on the launch, Fairlight Sales & Marketing Director, Stuart DeMarais said today, "Our goal with AudioBase 3 was to free up the audio professional's time and access. Today's editor needs the ability to access files, be it a music clip or sound effect, quickly and from a variety of formats. AudioBase 3 librates the user with access via the web, scalability within in the system and integration of popular existing interfaces, such as iTunes." At the heart of AudioBase 3 is the web interface. Audio Professionals can search, play or download files from any system connected to the network, freeing valuable time in editing suites. Libraries can be edited externally and pick lists can be set up via the web interfaces then downloaded directly on Fairlight DREAM Series systems to maximize productivity. Scalable from PC to multi-processor servers, the web interface makes increasing efficiency affordable for professional studios of all sizes. AudioBase3 fully integrates the widely used iTunes platform, allowing direct ripping and publishing to AudioBase3 and includes metadata search information with Apple WAV codec. Once ripped from iTunes, files are accessible via the AudioBase3 web interface. The AudioBase3 program runs on Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional and Windows Server 2003. The system is supported for Microsoft SQL Server and Internet Information Services (IIS). Free open-source sharewares Apache 2 and MySQL also support AudioBase3. In addition, the program is backwards compatible with MFX3plus engines operating on Apache 2.
