News Quantel launches QColor Excel for iQ - heads up all colorists! (11/5/2005) Breakthrough option for industry leading DI platform offers truly interactive colour control Quantel today announced QColor Excel - a highly innovative new facility for intuitive colour correction with iQ, the world's leading DI system. As its name suggests, QColor Excel is designed to give the specialist colorist a totally interactive, naturally intuitive interface with iQ's enormously powerful non-linear colour grading tools. "Colorists have a unique talent," says Quantel Research Director, Paul Kellar. "We have spent the last 12 months consulting with - and just watching too - some of the world's leading colorists in order to build them the optimum user interface to practise their special craft." The objective in developing QColor Excel was to produce a completely intuitive but all-capable set of colour control user interfaces, which can be driven without ever having to look at the controls. The colorist can thus concentrate entirely on what is happening on-screen. This has been achieved by developing ergonomically optimised, instantly responsive control surfaces that can be arranged by colorists to make the working area of their choice. "With QColor Excel we've managed to combine the ergonomic approach of traditional colour correctors with the limitless versatility of iQ's colour correction software - all driven by Quantel's massive hardware power," says Quantel's Mark Horton. "The result is a best of both worlds solution that gives the colorist 'heads-up' instant fingertip control over the full gamut of iQ's colour correction magic." QColor Excel is debuting at NAB and will be available in September 2005. QColor Excel will be an option on new systems and can also be retrofitted to all existing iQ systems.
