FOCUS Enhancements Shows FireStore Family is Industry Standard for Tapeless Acquisition at NAB 2005 (13/5/2005)

- FireStore is the Industry Standard for Tapeless Acquisition; Partner Companies Include Apple, AVID, Canon, JVC, Panasonic, Sony -

FOCUS Enhancements Inc. (NASDAQ SC: FCSE), a worldwide leader in video production and conversion technology, today announced that its FireStore family of Direct To Edit (DTE) video recorders will be one of the "hits" at NAB with show-wide demonstrations by an impressive alliance of A-lister's. Apple, Avid, Canon, JVC, Panasonic, Sony, and several other industry-leading partners will feature the FireStore DTE recorders as key components in streamlined, video and broadcast workflow solutions. The FireStore family will be on display at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention in Las Vegas from April 18 - 21, 2005 (Booths SL505, SL4255E).

The popular FireStore DTE recorders support DV and HD streams via FireWire. With FOCUS Enhancements' innovative DTE technology, users can record digital video directly from their camcorder while in the field. When finished, users simply connect the FireStore DTE recorders to their computer to instantly edit in the timeline without having to first capture, transfer, or convert their video - maintaining a pure native digital format throughout the entire production process. The FireStore camera-mount and portable models, FS-3 and FS-4 are the only DTE recorders available today for time-sensitive, in-the-field applications including independent film, sports, news, and live events.

"NAB is where FireStore will shine as video professionals realize the incredible potential of FOCUS Enhancements' DTE technology for any digital video application, including HD," said Michael Conway, senior vice president of strategy and business development for FOCUS Enhancements. "DTE ensures that the native footage migrates from the event to the editing room quickly without the need for timely conversions or capture. This dramatically reduces production time to final distribution. Our DTE alliance includes some of the biggest, most influential companies in the industry and each is highlighting how FireStore DTE products enhance their productivity solutions, including DV and HD video camcorders, editing software suites, video capture products, and everything in between."

The workhorse FireStore FS-1 is the ideal DTE solution for a host of portable and desktop DV disk recording applications. FS-1 is widely used by videographers for events, productions, and scientific and industrial applications.

FireStore FS-2 brings DTE DV disk recording technology to the studio, mobile van or installation. With a full complement of analog and digital I/O, FS-2 is ideal for tape deck replacement, film-to-disk transfer, presentations, and outside broadcast applications.

FireStore FS-3 brings DTE disk recording performance to the field by mounting directly to full size DV camcorders. The FS-3 is ideal for ENG, EFP, videography, and other portable applications.

FOCUS Enhancements' new Firestore FS-4, FS-4Pro, FS-4 HD, and FS-4Pro HD are the first DV and HD disk recorders with DTE technology designed for hand held camcorders. The FS-4 combines a small, rugged and shock proof chassis with full DTE technology performance, converting any IEEE-1394 (FireWire, i.Link) drive into a high performance Digital Disk Recorder/Player. The FS-4 series record directly to disk from the digital camcorder, VTR, or mixer, and like the other FireStore models, they can immediately connect directly to the NLE system with zero ingest time - no capturing, no file transfer, and no file conversion.

The Firestore family will be on display as part of the following demonstrations:

* 21st Century 3D - FS-4Pro is used as part of their revolutionary 3D video solution. Booth # SU9969
