News Nagra unveils the ARES-M Compact Professional Recorder (13/5/2005) The first professional recorder for less than $1,000 Nagra Audio, a division of the Swiss-based Kudelski Group, is pleased to present the ARES-M, the smallest, most compact professional recording solution ever developed. This new professional recorder succeeds the prestigious range of Nagra SN miniature recorders developed in the 1960-70. The ARES-M is destined to replace the current range of obsolete recorders in the hands of journalists today. It is the size of a mobile phone and uses the latest technologies from the computer and telecommunication industries. Modern miniaturization has made it possible to fit all the features required by journalists into a compact lightweight package. The ARES-M has a built-in and professional plug-on microphone, USB port and an internal memory of 1 G Byte. Equipped with an internal audio editor and an FM radio receiver for monitoring the radio stations' "on-air" signal, this recorder runs on a single pair of "AA" cells. Two batteries, available worldwide, allow the machine to record in Mono or Stereo for more than 10 hours. Aimed to complement the Nagra ARES range, the ARES-M will be available from September 2005. It will be appreciated in any situation where a high quality recording is to be made with an easy-to-use compact professional recorder. The internal memory is discharged through the built-in USB port that works with PC and MAC. The files are recorded in PCM or MPEG, which is compatible with today's editing systems. The ARES-M is delivered as a "ready-to-go" package including carrying case, plug-on microphone, external microphone cable and USB connection cable and batteries.
