News Quantel at IBC 2005 - Hold on tight! (20/7/2005) On stand no 7.220 at IBC 2005, Quantel will be showcasing its full new generation product range. Getting their first European outings will be the many innovations first unveiled at NAB - joined by a number of further major announcements especially for IBC. "Our new thinking and products have really caught the industry's imagination. We've got a tiger by the tail," says Quantel Executive Chairman, Richard Taylor; "it's an exhilarating ride!" Brand new for Post & DI at IBC 2005 The enormously powerful Eiger software was a massive success when it was released earlier this year. "If you thought Eiger was good, what we're showing at IBC will blow you away!" said Steve Owen, Quantel Post and DI Marketing Manager. At the date of penning this announcement, Steve refused to be drawn any further, other than to say, "If you're in post, be sure to call by the stand at IBC. You won't be disappointed!" Pay as you Go HD One of the major hits of NAB, Pay as you Go HD caught the imagination of post houses worldwide with systems already sold into three continents. IBC provides the European launch platform for this exciting initiative. Pay as you Go HD on the eQ post production system gives customers not yet ready for full-time HD all the quality, performance and tools of eQ in HD now at a highly competitive price - with the flexibility to 'pay as you go' for HD on a project-by-project basis. Thus they win both ways - getting 100% of most powerful all-round post production platform on the planet for only 60% of the price, while only paying for HD input and output as it is needed. News to go Another big hit of NAB with the first systems already shipped to customers, Newsbox is also getting its European launch at IBC - a new concept of packaged news production at a new level of affordability. Newsbox is 'news to go' - a complete newsroom system in a box. Now every broadcaster, no matter what their market size, can benefit from the magic of the Quantel news workflow. The Newsbox package includes everything from ingest and playout automation to journalist and craft editing, all based on Quantel's sQ server technology. With pricing starting at around €150K for a complete system, Newsbox is set to be the talk of broadcasters at IBC this year. Close to air Graphics Creation & Playout At NAB, The new Paintbox gained a sibling with Quantel's brand new graphics playout server. Named Picturebox sQ, this new machine picks up from where the legendary Quantel Picturebox still store left off. At IBC we'll be showing just why so many top broadcasters are choosing the combination of Paintbox's limitless creative power and Picturebox sQ's versatile stills and moving image playout capability; it's a complete graphics package that fits perfectly with today's integrated workflow models. The world's most agile server Quantel sQ technology has become the worldwide market leader in integrated, server based production systems over the last two years, with more than 300 sQs worldwide. The reasons for its runaway success are many, but underpinning them all is Quantel's unique Frame Magic technology, which makes the sQ quite simply the most agile server available. "It looks so beautifully simple that it can be difficult to comprehend just how incredibly powerful and well thought out this technology is," said Norman Rouse, Quantel Broadcast Marketing Manager. At IBC, Quantel will be demonstrating why that agility is so crucial in the world of close-to-air television production, and how broadcasters can exploit its benefits to create production environments that are more productive, more creative and less costly. Also on show will be the new Intelligent Zoning facility for sQ, which is shipping now. Two years in development, Intelligent Zoning is a technological tour de force from Quantel that brings new levels of resilience and operational flexibility to provide the ultimate workflow for multi-server, multi-application systems. Put simply, Intelligent Zoning allows the broadcaster to specify the level of synchronicity between any number of sQ servers and users, spread across any number of locations. Quantel's Zoning gives broadcasters the full benefits of server based systems; no other system on the market even comes close. Colour correction Quantel is now a mainstream supplier of colour correction systems. In recognition of this fact, and for the first time at IBC, Quantel will have a whole area of the stand dedicated to the business and art of colour correction. At the show, we will be unveiling the production model of QColor Excel - the intuitive heads-up, colour control interface for iQ and eQ that was first shown in prototype form at NAB this year. QColor Excel combines the ergonomic approach of traditional colour correctors with the limitless versatility of Quantel's colour correction software to provide a best of both worlds colour handling environment. Everyone interested in colour correction should see it.
