News EVS Broadcast Equipment will present its latest line-up of high definition and MXF-based products at IBC 2005 (25/8/2005) Introducing HD XT[2]: The Next Generation High-Def Server The HD XT[2] server is the latest technology from EVS, which incorporates the existing power of the XT server and takes it to the next level. This new platform supports all current XT applications including the HD Super Motion mode. The HD XT[2] features the utmost flexibility with up to 6 reversible channels with VITC and 8 embedded audio tracks per channel. The HD XT[2] also offers maximum High Definition image quality with up to 150 Mbps in the 6-Channel configuration or for high quality applications, the system can offer 360 Mbps per channel in a 2-Channel mode. XNet[2]: The More Powerful Real-Time Production Network The XNet[2] option for the HD XT[2] will offer the increased real-time networking option up to 1.5 Gbps, which allows for up to 10 simultaneous transfers of HD content. In standard definition the XT[2] platform is now supporting MPEG2 I-Frame format (D10) The XT[2] open hardware platform together with a multi-format software codec allows the integration of new format. Today the XT[2] server is fully compliant with the 4:2:2 MPEG I-Frame format and therefore offers direct file transfer with 3rd party equipment supporting IMX. The New Multicam Release 7 running on XT series servers now allows fast and efficient A/V inserts. This makes the XT server the ultimate solution for Highlights Editing during Live production. IP Director: The New GUI for EVS Servers IP Director delivers a complete suite of Windows(r) GUI applications allowing for full control of your EVS networked environment. This powerful application allows multiple servers to be controlled from this central GUI. This creates the feeling of controlling one large server with many channels whilst producing redundancy and multiple points of safety as the application spans the EVS servers across the network. IP Director applications combine with the EVS networked servers enabling a truly collaborative, tape-less workflow to unify the production environment. The options include ingest, logging, asset management, browsing, editing, all the way through to play out. The IP Control Panel allows the control of any specific channel of any EVS servers from any IP remote workstation. The IP Control Panel's flexibility allows channels to be synced for multiple channel play-back and control without taking heavy network bandwidth. IP Explorer manages all the clips and playlists present on the networked servers through a central redundant SQL Database. IP Logger allows the indexing of the incoming feeds and also features a powerful search engine for instant retrieval of media. Introducing XStore: the latest EVS media Server XStore is a dedicated media server platform ideal to store, exchange and edit audio and video content. Key to file-based architectures, XStore makes workflows more efficient and can host optional EVS software: CleanEdit, the non-linear editor ideal for speed to air, and MediaXchange, a bridge between EVS MXF files and 3rd party editor formats (Avid(tm), Apple(tm), Leitch(tm),...) or new Camcorder formats (P2, XDCAM). Interoperability with Third Party Production Tools EVS furthers its potential to enhance the production workflow by stressing the management of the XT infrastructure with NLE applications. See the interoperability of EVS files natively in SD with Avid's MediaComposer and in SD/HD with Apple's Final Cut Pro. CleanEdit Non-linear Editing is now available in High Definition CleanEdit offers the fastest solution for editing both news and sports packages through a completely networked solution. It includes ingest, logging, browsing, editing, approval, play-out, user management, etc. and is all based on standard IT networks with a scaleable architecture. The workflow is handled virtually and offers real time access with no need to move or copy files and no rendering is required at any point. CleanEdit is format independent and can use either SD or HD footage recorded on HD XT[2] servers. It benefits from MXF based import of media files from systems such as P2 and XDCAM. The new CleanEdit release allows a purely software and seamless use of 4/3 & 16/9 media on the same time line.
