PLAZAMEDIA introduces sportsCam in HD at IBC 2005 (6/9/2005)

PLAZAMEDIA, a subsidiary of the EM.TV Group, will soon be showing the latest member of its "Camera Moving Systems" line-up at the International Broadcast Convention (IBC) 2005 in Amsterdam: a sportsCam for high-definition productions - to be available starting in September 2005. Under the name "Camera Moving Systems", PLAZAMEDIA and its partner TV SKYLINE offer innovative camera systems for enhancing TV sports programming. This family of cameras includes the sportsCam, the helmCam, the poleCam and the pylonCam. PLAZAMEDIA and TV SKYLINE will have a booth (number OEE153) at the IBC 2005 from September 8 to 12, 2005. No matter whether a goalCam is positioned in a soccer goal, a camera is mounted on a ski jumper's helmet or scenes are shown right from the penalty box, "Camera Moving Systems" can provide the best solution for any sports situation. The camera systems from PLAZAMEDIA can be individually adapted to meet the exact conditions encountered at a specific location. This means that these cameras can be used almost anywhere. They not only provide new perspectives to viewers at home, but they also give an exceptional and exciting impression of the daring, breakneck speeds at which athletes and competitors actually move. Whether a ski jumper is making a run down the slope, a racing cyclist is making that final push toward the finish line or a Formula 1 driver is zipping along in a tight race, our moving cameras give a brand-new edge to well-known sports, allowing fans to experience a whole new, exciting dimension at home on their TV screens.

What's really special about cameras from PLAZAMEDIA: When mounted on a high-speed rail system they can move at speeds of up to 150 km/h (as well as slow down and stop) and cover distances of up to 300 meters. These rail systems allow viewers to get an ideal perspective when following the action on curved courses and tracks, such as during track-and-field events.

sportsCam III in HD - Technical Data

The third generation sportsCam is also the first HD-compatible camera system of this type on the market. Its compact remote head with integral 3 CCD HDTV camera and zoom lens can be used for high-quality HD productions as well as for the usual SD (standard definition) market - in both 16:9 and 4:3 format. The system operation can also be switched between 50Hz and 60Hz, allowing it to be used all over the world. Its durable slip rings enable it to pan a full 360 degrees. What's more, it has a tilt range of 252 degrees. The speeds for panning and tilting can be set in broad increments, with up to a 360-degree pan possible within less than 2 seconds. The entire remote head is waterproof and can be used under any weather conditions. In addition to its compact design, the sportsCam III HD is also very light, weighing less than 10 kilograms. All system parameters can be set from a remote control panel. An additional remote control pad, which can be used over long distances, is also available to operate the camera. The sportsCam III HD can be readily mounted in a standing or suspended position. And in September 2005 it'll be all ready for high definition.
