GFF Introduces group|cut New Logging And Editing System (20/9/2005)

GFF GmbH today introduced group|cut, its new server-based, modular logging and editing solution for video workgroups. group|cut enables the user to capture and store huge amounts of video footage. Material can be logged, categorised, and edited fast and easily by non-technical staff. The system helps companies to finish high volume productions faster and cheaper. It features tight integration into the popular non-linear editing systems FinalCut Pro(r) and AVID(r). group|cut works with preview and broadcast resolution at the same time and can be used in a tape-based or tape-less workflow. It is running exclusively on Mac OS(r) X. group|cut is presented in booth 7.509, IBC 2005 in Amsterdam.

"With group|cut, we have brought networked video logging to the Mac(r)," said Hans W. Gei§endšrfer, founder and owner of GFF GmbH. "Its ease of use enables your dramaturgical staff to work with lots of footage as if they were cutters." For several tasks group|cut provides specialised modules that have been optimised for intuitive and fast usage. Editors can give each tape a unique identification number and print a label in the Labeler. Live or prerecorded footage is captured with the Recorder. A central database and storage for preview and broadcast quality files are located at the Server. Inside the Logger essential information can be extracted from footage according to parameters unique to a certain production. Material and metadata can be reviewed and selected in the Archivist. Finally, users can choose from the server-based clip library and do a rought-cut in the Editor.

group|cut is the ideal production workflow tool for reality TV, documentary, and news. Unlike other video asset management systems it is developed for the specific needs of the production phase. It provides an individual grid for describing, filtering, and finding the best footage for a story. group|cut can work with the keywords, categories and parameters that fit production needs best. People can make notes on places, people, emotions, or whatever their tale requires.

group|cut has been developed for Mac OS(r) 10.4 Tiger and makes extensive use of many of the operating system's fascinating features like CoreAudio, CoreImage, and QuickTime(r) 7. It can be scaled from a single workstation to huge, SAN-based networks. To enhance workflows optimally group|cut is adapted individually for special project needs.

Pricing & Availability

group|cut is available immediatly through GFF GmbH - streaming division and starts at EUR 750. group|cut requires Mac OS(r) 10.4 and is running on G4 and G5 systems.
