JVC launches super-slim and highly efficient professional LCD display monitors at IBC 2005 (26/9/2005)

Designed for installations with restricted space and requiring multi-format compatibility

A highlight for JVC at IBC2005 is the launch of three new professional LCD TFT monitors - the widescreen (16:9) 40-inch monitor, the GM-H40L1G and the 4:3 sized 19-inch & 17-inch monitor, the GD-19L1 & 17L1. JVC is also showing its range of high definition DT-V monitors and their vast array of selectable input cards. New rear projection HDTV displays will be located in the IBC Display Zone on stand 8.201.

Commenting on the IBC launch, Gustav Emrich, Product Manager at JVC Professional Europe states, "No longer used only for display purposes, flat panel LCD screens now must be versatile enough to integrate with a wide range of equipment and to be mountable in a variety of positions and locations, especially where space is limited. Security in public areas and longevity are also key factors when selecting the right model. The new 19-inch and 17-inch models are ideal for diverse monitoring applications and the 40-inch GM-H40L1G LCD monitor is designed to meet the video format demands and needs of today's professional integrators and installers."

The 40" LCD model has a self-diagnostic LED indicator and an Eco-Sensor which automatically tracks the ambient light level and so adjusts the screen's brightness to reduce excessive luminance. It has a security lock for theft prevention in public areas. Enhanced features include high speed input switching, digital zoom, picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture dual display modes. All JVC's LCD monitors have VESA compliant wall mounting templates.

JVC's super-slim 40-inch LCD is designed for space limited installations The GM-H40L1G monitor measures only 123mm in depth and is specially designed with a silent, thermostatically controlled, variable-speed cooling fan that delivers optimal performance. It has a native resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels and brightness of 500 cd/m2. Images can be viewed at 170o. Flush-mounting enhances the use of space in restricted environments, such as OB vans, production & editing suites and broadcast studios. Because it was designed specially to have all its air vents on the side panels, the monitor requires no air gap at its rear. Thus it can be mounted flush against the wall or ceiling. The standard fan operation is designed to handle ceiling or other horizontal installations

The side air vents and the thermostatically controlled fan also mean that two units can be installed back-to-back. The bezel is detachable and can be customised to match its surroundings or smoothly fit into a system. Replacing the bezel is also a possibility for units used in busy traffic and public venues where they may become marked or scratched. The monitor comes with two in-built audio speakers.

Having an impressive array of standard inputs and external controls, the GM-H40L1G monitor is compatible with a number of signal formats including composite, Y/C, RGB analog signals and DVI-D RGB, SDI, HD SDI or HDMI* formats enabling it to display images captured at a resolution of up to 1,920 x 1,080. Monitor control is by a variety of external control terminals such as the widely-used RS-232C and RS-485. Where longer cable lengths are required, MAKE and TRIGGER type remote controls are available, as is RJ45 for LAN control.

JVC's 19-inch and 17-inch Professional LCD monitors for flexible data and SD video viewing Offering a simple, stylish and versatile display, JVC's professional 4:3 LCD monitors, the 19-inch and 17-inch models, GD-19L1 and GD-17L1 can be used either stand alone or rack mounted. It has VESA standard mounting holes and smooth flush surfaces which both simplify and enhance installation. The slim 24mm bezel provides a clear view of displayed images which is especially beneficial when multiple monitors are installed side-by-side.

PC and video (component) inputs enables a simple and well integrated system. An exceptional wide viewing angle of 140¡ left to right and 130¡ top to bottom enables the monitor to be installed at higher positions for larger audience viewing. The images produced are crisp and bright for easy viewing with a SXGA resolution (1,280 x 1,024 pixels) and a contrast ratio of 500:1. The control buttons on the front panel are compact and smooth in design. The built in AC and detachable power cable also makes for easy installation. Monitor control is greatly facilitated by the supplied infrared remote controller.

JVC's multi-format DT-V monitor range

JVC's digital TV (DT-V) monitor range is also a stand highlight for visitors to IBC. The monitors can handle 16:9 and 4:3 formats, with bezels to match. They come in 10-inch, 17-inch and 19-inch diagonal screen sizes. They are ideal for high-end users such as post production, broadcast monitoring and outside broadcast whose requirements are to monitor the output of HD SDI and SDI signals accurately, flexibly and affordably.

As UK-based NEP Visions continues its global programme of investment in HDTV, JVC has been the primary choice of monitors. Over 250 JVC screens of different types and sizes have been supplied to NEP Visions in the last three years for use in outside broadcast vehicles globally.

Recent purchases include over twenty JVC 17-inch DT-V monitors (model DT-V1710CG). The Engineering team at NEP Visions "found that the JVC monitors were very good value and their performance was one of the best in the market, in particular the 10-inch model of SDI monitors (model TM-1010PND) with its display of 16:9 being the best in the market in that screen size - 84 units are installed in total," comments NEP Visions Sales and Marketing Director, Vicki Betihavas. "All our HD units have JVC 17-inch DT-V models in the engineering areas of HD1, HD2 and HD3 and we will outfit HD4 and HD5 with the JVC monitors because these models have such excellent picture quality. They are very good value and the wide selection of input cards makes the 17-inch monitors such an ideal choice for us as they give us the flexibility that we require for the kind of projects we work on."

JVC's commitment to monitor recycling

JVC is planning to be fully compliant with the RoHS (Restriction of the use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment) and WEEE (Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment) European directives.

*The HDMI input facility will be incorporated into the JVC GM-H40L1G LCD monitor in 2006.
