News Fairlight Introduces the SX48 Signal Exchange I/O Solution in a Single Rackmount Unit (26/9/2005) Reaffirming its commitment to deliver tools that streamline workflow processes at every level of audio post-production, Fairlight today introduced the SX48 signal exchange. The SX48 provides broadcast and audio post professionals a premium quality, high density modular I/O translation system that interfaces the variety of signals encountered in today's audio environments, all in a single intuitive and functional rack-mount unit. "The variance in audio formats and platforms has led to great disparity of signal inputs and outs, which impairs a studio's workflow," said Stuart DeMarais, Fairlight's Sales and Marketing Director, "The Fairlight SX48 was developed specifically for today's premiere broadcast and audio post facility that needs to navigate signal variance quickly and efficiently." The SX48 is a 2u rack-mounted, self-contained unit that provides up to 48 channels of analogue or digital I/O. Setup and other parameters are easily established and controlled via Ethernet connection. Once setup, the modular unit is configurable in system scope, allowing users to built up to meet the demands of each application. The host connection is supported by integral MADI I/Os. Sample rates of 44.1, 48 and 96 KHz are supported and referenced to AES3 or wordclock. In addition, a four-channel mic amp card can be included to give users a fully functioning and configurable stage box with direct I/O support to the system. "Whilst the industry moves toward a diverse array of audio formats that effect signal processing, Fairlight remains dedicated to providing audio professionals tools that supersede any hindrance in the workflow process," said DeMarais. "The Fairlight SX48 is a direct result of this format-agnostic philosophy. SX48 provides premiere performance and exceptional sonic quality in signal exchange and, most importantly, is available at a price unmatched in the industry."
