ROOT6's New ContentAgent-XR Software adds Features to SD, HD and DI Workflow (15/11/2005)

ROOT6 Technology demonstrates the latest iteration of its ContentAgent-XR encoding and delivery platform at NAB Post+.

ContentAgent-XR facilitates the automated capture, playback, encoding, and tapeless global delivery of multi-format, multi-resolution digital media. Material may be imported from any source and transcoded to any format.

In order to streamline workflow and improve productivity, ContentAgent enables even the most complex worklows to be speedily created by non-technical operators. Templates and Ôstep-by-stepÕ workflow construction enable selected material to be automatically transcoded into multiple formats and delivered to a variety of output destinations via email, RSS and ftp. Output may also be to tape or to DVD using simple single-click authoring and the integrated burner.

An important new feature is the support of Watch Folders, enabling collaborative project workers on a SAN to drop media files into a selected shared folder which ContentAgent monitors. When ContentAgent sees media arriving in the folder it will initiate and complete a pre-determined workflow.

"As our customers make the transition from tape-based to tapeless working, they tell us itÕs key to maximise margins," asserts ROOT6 TechnologyÕs Marcus Hume-Humphreys. "ContentAgent is a dedicated productivity tool designed to accomplish precisely that Ð in SD, HD and Digital Intermediate workflows."

Featuring a new user interface, the latest V2 software is built around a powerful SQL database engine enabling flexible user, media, and template management in addition to multi-machine distributed encoding. Additional new features include single-click web-based asset sharing, the incorporation of a logo burn-in facility on any encoded or transcoded stream, and high quality PAL/NTSC standards conversion. XR offers an optional 'out-of-the-box' fully configured client/server implementation of Windows Media DRM encryption, including user authentication.

Additionally, the unique provision of 2K DPX-to-2K WMV transcoding means that the massive files normally associated with 2K film may now be easily and securely distributed via the Internet for viewing by database-defined, authorised production staff. For exceptional encoding performance in both SD and HD, XR utilises hardware acceleration from Aspex and Tarari.
