Solid State Logic Debuts Solutions for DAW-Based Audio Production (13/2/2006)

Range of Console, Rack Mount and Plug-In Solutions Deliver Legendary SSL Sound

Solid State Logic, the world's leading manufacturer of analogue and digital audio consoles for music, broadcast, post and film facilities, exhibited at NAMM for the first time this year.

With the evolution in recording toward smaller, often private and project-specific production environments based around a digital audio workstation, it is fitting that the long-established leader in professional audio provide the finest and most innovative products to address the new paradigm.

To this end, Solid State Logic showcased a selection of products at NAMM, all of which deliver SSL's unparalleled quality to DAW-based production environments and commercial studios alike.

The highest expression of this new range of products is the AWS 900 Analogue Workstation System, SSL's most popular console ever. The AWS 900 provides a complete high-end production environment, combining the benefits of audiophile SuperAnalogue(tm) audio processing with DAW system integration.

Top producers and engineers, as well as artists, have been quick to acquire the AWS 900 for their private or commercial studios. Installations include five at Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis's private studio, Flyte Time; Will Smith's studio, the Boom Boom Room; Alicia Keys's the Oven Studios; and engineer/producer Tal Herzberg's room at Henson Recording Studios.

SSL also exhibited the XLogic range of rack mount products, including the X-Rack modular rack system. The X-Rack Mic Amp and Channel EQ, introduced at NAMM, join the existing Dynamics unit to form a comprehensive processing solution for studio or live applications.

The X-Rack delivers the same legendary SuperAnalogue(tm) sound and functionality found on the flagship XL 9000 K Series console. A unique feature of the X-Rack unit is the incorporation of SSL's legendary Total Recall(r) system, both for stand-alone use and use with the AWS 900.

Also on display at NAMM were the XLogic E Signature Channel, which brings the classic sound of SSL's early '80s E Series console to the outboard rack of today's engineers and producers, and the LMC-1 Plug-In, launched last year and now available for PC as well as Mac.

"As the DAW has become an integral component of audio production, the vast SSL user base has been clamoring for products that bring SSL's legendary sound to new creative environments," said Solid State Logic director of product marketing Niall Feldman. "We have developed a group of products that do just that, and the overwhelming response to date has validated our efforts. We look forward to continued innovation as the audio industry's exciting evolution proceeds."
