News Merging Announces Version 1.2 for VCube (20/2/2006) Merging Technologies is very pleased to announce the release of Version 1.2 software for its VCube SD and HD-2K Hard disk video recorder/player systems. The upgrade is free of charge to all users and offers a significant progression of the VCube's functionality and compatibility. A summary of the new features includes: Quick Settings for both SD & HD; Using a single control panel, all settings may now be adjusted to match regular video standards of picture format, frame rate, pixel aspect ratio, synchronization and reference signals in just two mouse clicks. MPEG2 is now supported, both in Playback and Capture, and the same applies to the new DVCPRO 50 codec. HD-2K VCube now allows direct playback for HDV video (m2t files) and Video capture is now properly handled at 23.98 fps with a 29.97 TimeCode reference. High frame rates, up to 120 fps, are available for compositions and other new features include: The 'Last frame in cache' feature allows VCube to playback a low fps media file into an high-speed composition with no drawbacks in terms of storage or networking. 'Clips' properties now also feature a 'revert' function. The video engine has been further improved. It now takes up even less CPU for a smoother playback, audio monitoring is now possible during capture for the video card's audio channels and 2048x1080 is now supported for dual-link video cards. (2048x1556 is arriving soon). Audio monitoring is available for the Xena cards during capture and 19 new file formats are now supported including: vob, m2t, mpa, mpeg, tga, mng, jnp, pcx, wbmp, j2k, jp2, j2c, jbg, jpc, pgx, pnm, pgm, ppm and psd.
