Sound Devices Unveils New Portable Audio Recorders (4/4/2006)

Sound Devices today unveiled two additions to the 7-series line of portable digital recorders, the 702 and 702T. These two-channel recorders share the superb sound quality and field-tested chassis design of the successful 722 and 744T digital recorders. The 702 and 702T (with time code) are Compact Flash-only recorders.

"There are sound mixers who need truly professional tools with peerless audio performance. Our 7-Series recorders will always be for that type of customer," stated Jim Koomar, Director of Worldwide Sales for Sound Devices. "As Compact Flash card capacities go up and their cost goes down, customers working on commercial and ENG productions can now fit a full day's sound files on a single, cost-effective solid-state Compact Flash card. These new recorders effectively close the history books on tape-based recorders for production sound."

The 702 and 702T recorders are available now and have a suggested retail price of $2,175 and $2,650 (US) respectively.
