Quantel's Pablo 4K Colour Correction Systems makes Vegas debut (26/4/2006)

Quantel¹s next generation 4K color correction system shows its class at NAB

NAB sees the first showing in the US of the award winning Quantel Pablo; the totally integrated, in-context, non-linear color correction environment with brilliant head-up ergonomics and a super-rich toolset that make color correction a fast, creative and highly versatile process.

Visitors to the company¹s booth can witness real-time true 4K super-film resolution playout with real-time pan and scan; this involves the Quantel system pulling a continuous 1.15 gigabytes of data from the disks.

A major step forward in color correction technology ­ Pablo is a unique combination of the most powerful image processing hardware on the planet with the enormous flexibility of the world¹s most versatile color correction software ­ all perfectly blended with the Quantel heritage of quality, performance and interactivity.

Launched six months ago Pablo has been universally lauded as a more creative, more productive and more profitable way of working in all resolutions from SD through 2K and up to 4K.

Ascent Media Group¹s Senior Colorist David Bernstein comments on how easily he inputs material from a wide variety of different image sources. ³Pablo on iQ gives us the ability to mix and match resolutions,² explains Bernstein. ³We can also bring in 2K and 4K files and output them at whatever resolution we want. Because rendering happens in the background, the entire process is invisible, and so fast that it almost feels like real time.²
