Serious Quantel horsepower makes realtime 4K DI a reality for the first time

Quantel's industry-leading Pablo and iQ DI systems are bringing the industry realtime true 4K for the very first time.

4K has been seen by many in the industry as being the natural resolution for capturing all the detail of 35mm original camera negative film. However, until now it has not been practical in either time or cost terms to carry out DI work for the majority of projects at 4K. Quantel's new development resets the workflow and economics of 4K to bring it within the realms of mainstream DI.

The necessary massive performance required to deliver 4K operation has been achieved by a combination of next-generation engineering in the processing heart of the systems and the development of Quantel's breakthrough TimeMagic� technology. The result delivers real-time true 4K super-film resolution playout with real-time pan and scan; this involves the Pablo/iQ pulling a continuous 1.15 gigabytes of data per second from the disks without the need to resort to the compromises of image patches or proxies.
