EditShare Announces Canopus EDIUS Support (17/5/2006)

EditShare, the pioneer of cross platform collaborative editing and shared media storage systems, today announced enhanced support for EDIUS nonlinear editing software from Canopus, a business within Grass Valley. EDIUS customers today will now be able to purchase an EditShare that is specifically enabled to work with multiple EDIUS systems offering them the same powerful tools currently used by broadcasters, facilities and production companies worldwide.

The EditShare systems offer a cost-effective and secure workflow solution designed to help organizations enhance their creativity and streamline the content creation process. EditShare allows large groups of editors to capture into and share a common pool of media files, while guaranteeing that unauthorized individuals can never interfere with, damage or erase media once it has been shared.

Steve Wise, Marketing Director of the Canopus business in EMEA within Grass Valley, comments; "EditShare's technology can bring major benefits to EDIUS customers and working with our software will be able to offer a streamlined, secure and productive workflow."

The next generation of EditShare systems - Version 4.0 - which was launched and demonstrated at NAB 2006 included enhancements including, support for uncompressed HD over 10 Gigabit Ethernet, faster hardware and larger hard drives, a new highly-scalable architecture and a new "Mount Manager" that simplifies connecting EditShare's "Media Spaces" to editors' workstations.

Pricing and availability

EditShare version 4.0 will be available at the end of Q2 2006 from EditShare's large international network of resellers with a MSRP starting at US$15,000, €13,750 and £9,650.
