Focus Enhancements' HD Direct To Edit Tapeless Acquisition Demonstrated with Canon, JVC, Panasonic, and Sony Camcorders (19/5/2006)

FireStore Direct to Edit (DTE) Technology Leads the Industry in Digital, In-the-Field HD and DV Video Acquisition

Focus Enhancements Inc. (NASDAQ: FCSE), a worldwide leader in video production and conversion technology, today announced that its FireStore Direct To Edit(r) (DTE) digital disk recorders will be one of the more prominent solutions showcased for video professionals at NAB2006 in Las Vegas, April 24 - 27. Industry leaders, including Canon, JVC, Panasonic, and Sony, will demonstrate compelling solutions for workflow applications. The FireStore line-up will also be on display in Focus Enhancements' booth, SL2136, in the Las Vegas Convention Center, south hall, lower level.

"NAB is the premier show for video professionals to find critical solutions that will save time and money, while enhancing their overall production process," said Matt McEwen, senior product manager for Focus Enhancements. "Our unique DTE technology is the leading solution available today for streamlining overall production time, from acquisition to final distribution, regardless of the application. With resounding industry support from the biggest names in the business, FireStore and DTE are evolving into the industry standard for tapeless acquisition and in-the-field back up."

With Focus Enhancements' industry-leading DTE technology, videographers can record drop out-free digital video (HD or DV) directly from their camcorder while in the field. FireStore then connects directly to Mac/Windows-based editing systems through FireWire, allowing video professionals to edit content directly from the device. The FireStore line is proving to be a standard for time-sensitive, in-the-field applications including independent film, sports, news and live events.

FS-3 and DR-DV5000: FireStore FS-3 and DR-DV5000 bring DTE disk recording performance to the field by mounting directly to full-size DV camcorders. The DR-DV5000 is designed specifically for JVC camcorder integration. Both models are ideal for ENG, EFP, videography and other portable applications.

FS-4 HD: The portable FireStore FS-4 HD and FS4Pro HD provide HDV and DV camcorder owners with streamlined workflow from acquisition to editing. Available in 40GB (3 hours) or 80GB (6 hours) models, FS-4 HD and FS-4Pro HD are the ideal solution for use with popular DV and HDV camcorders from Sony, JVC, Canon, and Panasonic.

FS-100: Panasonic and Focus Enhancements have recently introduced the much anticipated FireStore FS-100 DVCPRO HD DTE recorder. FS-100 extends the record time of the popular Panasonic AG-HVX200 P2 camera/recorder to 100 minutes (200 minutes in DVCPRO 50 mode, 400 minutes in DV/DVCPRO mode) as well as providing a back-up to P2 cards.

FS-C HD: The newly announced FireStore FS-C HD60 and FS-C HD100 portable DTE recorders are designed for use with the acclaimed Canon XL H1 HDV camcorder. 4.5 hours (FS-C HD60) or 7.5 hours (FS-C HD100) of 1080i HD or DV video can be recorded while mounted directly to the XL H1 using the included camera mount hardware.

DR-HD100: JVC and Focus Enhancements recently launched the new, dedicated FireStore DR-HD100 DTE recorder for JVC's GY-HD100 series of ProHD camcorders. The DR-HD100 features extensive integration with the GY-HD100 camcorder and is capable of 4 hours (40GB model) or 8 hours (80GB) of 720p HD recording as well as standard definition DV recordings.
