News Bluefish444 Europe Introduces HD-SDI to DVI-I/HDMI Converters (26/6/2006) Bluefish444 Europe introduced today blueThing and redThing, compact multi-standard HD-SDI to DVI-I/HDMI converters for all common LCD and plasma monitors. Applications include HD production monitoring, post-production monitoring, presentation, projection, corporate displays, and HD input to low cost LCD and plasma displays. High quality proprietary spatial and temporal video processing provides superior frame rate conversion and scaling, in addition to de-interlacing. Aspect ratio is preserved by detecting anamorphic inputs and the resolution of the connected display. Unlike redThing, blueThing also includes AES/S-PDIF digital, analogue, and headphone audio outputs for monitoring or de-embedding. Both redThing and blueThing offer an Ethernet interface, which means any web browser can control the unit and therefore there is no need to install additional software. Ethernet also means the control computer is not limited to serial or USB cable lengths and can be located at a great distance. On-screen display and integrated push buttons eliminates needing a computer to configure the box. DVI-I output enables units to be used with RGB analogue and DVI-D equipped monitors. Key features include: o SD/HD-SDI to DVI-I converter for LCD & plasma displays o Broadcast based filters for superior image detail o Proprietary frame rate conversion for superior image motion o De-interlacing and up/down scaling o Support for anamorphic SD-SDI units o Auto image sizing for widescreen and standard monitors o Auto scaling to monitor's native resolution o Proc-amp, gamma and colour matrix controls o DVI-D, DVI-I, HDMI or analogue RGB control o Audio extraction for complete A/V solution (blueThing only) o Local or remote (Ethernet 10/100) control o On screen display for set-up o Safe area marker insertion "blueThing/redThing follow in the footsteps of our other high-quality professional products. The high quality HD-SDI to DVI-I conversion process produces an image quality which is visibly superior to other converters we have tested.", said Garry Davis, Director, Bluefish444 Europe, "In addition to this the converters have a very flexible control interface. The Ethernet interface is platform independent and allows the converter to be placed remote from the controlling computer. However, the integrated push button/on-screen display also allows converter to be configured manually without the need for a computer." RedThing retails for £745 and blueThing retails for £995; both will be available in July 2006.
