theScribe Lite, based on the award-winning theScribe, is a revolutionary tool to catalogue MXF contents, keeping the metadata coming from MXF devices and, furthermore, annotate the material directly in the MXF file. The new file-based capture cameras from Ikegami, Panasonic, Sony and Thomson Grass Valley give immediate access to the material and the possibility to use it in a laptop while in the field. theScribe Lite takes the most out of this new feature, as it transfers both the audiovisual material and the associated metadata inserted by the camera and companion applications (like SONY PDZ-1 or Panasonic P2 Viewer), merging them together into a single MXF file in a SMPTE DMS-1 compliant manner.

This standard DMS-1 Metadata may then be further refined with theScribe Lite, making the content ready for redistribution, repurposing and archive. Having MXF files fully annotated offers users a new and thrilling way to reuse the material, allowing optimization of resources when the content is fed to the MAM system, thus reducing the costs for annotation and classification of the video material.
