Panasonic Announces AJ-HPM100 P2 Mobile Recorder (11/9/2006)

Panasonic is proud to announce the AJ-HPM100, the P2 Mobile. A Broadcast quality, mobile recorder based on the same design concept as DVCPRO laptop editors but cased in a rugged, go anywhere package that will take professional IT production out into the field in a production dedicated, compact unit. Again focusing on global format accessibility the P2 Mobile will handle all HD/SD formats.

This condensed unit comes packaged with six P2 card slots, an LCD monitor, speakers and an editing controller with a jog and shuttle dial. Editors everywhere will find the controls very familiar and easy to use and the speed and accessibility of content a complete contrast to old tape based field based production tools.

Handling everything from acquisition and transmission to viewing and play-list editing, the AJ-HPM100 lets you take full advantage of the outstanding speed and mobility that distinguish P2.

The AJ-HPM100 also offers DVCPRO HD compatible HD/SD multi-format and multi-codec capabilities, and comes equipped with digital and analog input/output terminals and PC interfaces.

As an important support to current SD P2 camcorders the AJ-HPM100 can up convert and down convert playback between standard and high definition formats.

Aimed at news gathering applications this unit will however find many friends in other production genresÕ. Sport, promo reality TV and ÔProduced Single CameraÕ shoots will all benefit from the speed and accessibility of content and give producers the opportunity to put together useable play-lists in the field before returning to base. With multiple interfaces, content can then be downloaded to any external hard drive, laptop computer or sent back to P2 cards. The rugged, lightweight build and AC/DC and battery operation make this the truly go anywhere, field recorder.
