Telestream Expands Encoding Workflow Solutions (25/9/2006)

Flipping More Formats, to More Places, for More People, in More Ways with plug-in components, craft encoding applications and enterprise-class systems

Telestream, the leading global provider of multiformat media encoding and delivery solutions, brings new faces and many new products to IBC2006 in stand 7.218. With the August acquisition of encoding specialist Popwire, the company expands its leadership position of helping content owners, creators and distributors access, repurpose, exchange and deliver video and audio content across data networks. Episode(TM) Series, the first products to emerge from the acquisition, make their IBC debut. Telestream is also participating in Mobile Zone M247, showcasing innovative video-to-mobile solutions.

The new Episode(TM) Series products are powerful, craft encoding software solutions for the Mac. The series is comprised of scalable desktop applications and server-based workgroup solutions. Episode Series addresses today's diverse and on-demand content repurposing and new media distribution needs for podcast, Web, mobile, DVD and IPTV. Targeting media enthusiasts, post-production professionals, and new media departments at broadcast and other media companies, Episode's optimized codecs, filters and extensive fine-tuning compression capabilities enable users to flip files with excellent picture quality and fast conversion speed.

Telestream is also participating in IBC Mobile Zone M247 with Mobix Interactive. The companies are demonstrating innovative video-to-mobile products for the emerging mobile marketplace. Telestream's new FlipFactory Mobile is the key enabler in Mobix's core mobile services offerings and innovative new Shoot 'n' Share product for consumers. FlipFactory Mobile automates media and metadata ingest, transcoding to mobile and Web formats, and media file transfer to Mobix's delivery platform. Media and metadata auto-publishing for VOD and iTunes is a new feature being demonstrated at IBC. This feature will be available in October. Support for other searchable Web portals will follow.

Telestream's new GraphicsFactory is also being demonstrated in the Telestream stand. This powerful new software solution automates graphics assembly in file-based workflows. Its template-driven model offers a fast, efficient means to personalize media, add promos, brand, and localize media for a variety of high-volume distribution requirements. A new audio-overlay feature, coming in October, is also being featured at the show.

The company's flagship FlipFactory product continues to build on its industry-leading technology for automating transcoding-based media workflows. Now available, FactoryArray provides failover protection and continuous job processing for high-volume workflows. New features now available include encode/decode support for Autodesk Media & Entertainment Systems including Autodesk Stone and Discreet Smoke, Inferno, Flame and Flint products; support for Philips forensic watermarking, VC-1, Final Cut Pro and Grass Valley K2. Features coming this October include support for AMR, EVS HD MXF, Leitch HD, Quantel HD MXF, 360 Systems MXF, Avid MXF and Avid Airspeed.

New Flip4Mac digital media tools for the Mac are also being featured at IBC. Popular Flip4Mac WMV Windows Media Import, Export, Playback Components now support Intel Macs and feature faster encoding speeds for PowerPC Mac users. Flip4Mac professional components expand to provide file transfer in and out of Final Cut Pro systems for more disc-based cameras and servers. New products now available include an Import Component for Ikegami Editcam and Import/Export Components for Grass Valley Profile|K2 servers. Coming in early October is a new Sony XDCAM Export Component and support for XDCAM-compatible media servers such as 360 Systems.
