Digital Vision to Unveil Expanded Compliance, Product Advances at NAB 2007 (19/2/2007)

Company announces Avid DNxHD support and new version of Film Master, DCI compliance for full product line and enhancements to DVO restoration suite

At NAB 2007 in booth SL3205, Digital Vision, a leading developer of advanced digital media applications specialising in film and video, will unveil and ship new product versions and pricing options, and showcase new compliance and collaboration capabilities for its image restoration, data conforming, and colour grading systems.

DCI-Compliance for Full Digital Vision Product Line At NAB, visitors to Digital Vision's booth will see that all of the company's products now support Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) specifications. The latest version of the award-winning DVNR image processing workstation supports 2048x1080 at 23.98Hz, 24Hz and 25Hz, and the Nucoda Film Master DI colour grading system provides 12 bit per component monitoring from the timeline and XYZ colourspace export to the DCI TIFF file format. Digital Vision's compliance demonstrates the company's leadership in helping its customers to address increasing demand for D-Cinema masters along with HD video and other growing digital delivery formats.

Advancing Tapeless Mastering - Support for Avid DNxHD encoded media To further advance tapeless mastering for broadcast programming, Digital Vision is collaborating with Avid Technology to build support for Avid DNxHDR decoding/encoding into the Film Master DI colour grading system. As a first step, Digital Vision has obtained permission from Avid to redistribute an Avid DNxHD codec (the first company to do so under Avid's new Avid DNxHD codec licensing program). This codec will be integrated into the Film Master system to directly access Avid DNxHD encoded media.

Film Master v3.5 Unveiled - and Shipping

At NAB, Digital Vision will give users their first look at Version 3.5 of the Film Master system, which will also ship at that time. The newest version includes a range of features, performance improvements and workflow enhancements, including;

* A new keyer with edge control and de-speckle filter, for cleaner keys * C-Mode list event order with optional handles and colour correction Revert capability * New features for the control panel including tint and pan / scan control from trackballs, automatic undo / redo memory and improved control sensitivity for all analogue controls. * Significantly improved processing performance for Digital Vision Optics, a unique toolset that enables users to manage grain/dust within the Film Master interface. New anti-Alias and De-field filters are included along with real-time display of Dust detection. * An interface update that includes interactive feedback on pre-emptive background processing of shots and frames * The ability to recursively filter and import media from a folder hierarchy, for automatic list building without an EDL. 12 bit DPX and QuickTime formats are supported for i/o. * Intuitive auto and proximity based key-frame creation and adjustment enhancements to Film Master's dynamic animation * The ability to perform scene detection faster than realtime and as a background task * Support for the DVS Centaurus video card including 2k HSDL 15fps i/o; and for 10 bit RGB 444 SDI output monitoring. Audio i/o is now available through either the Bluefish444 Lust or DVS Centaurus video cards, capturing multiple audio channels along with video to Broadcast Wave files.

Enhanced DVO Restoration Suite

Digital Vision has enhanced its Digital Vision Optics tools, which cater to a wide range of restoration and re-mastering tasks. DVO Dust now enables uses to individually correct auto-detected defects. DVO Fix now provides flexible area selection of larger and more complex defects associated with degraded film such as blotches and staining and physical damage.

Also at NAB, the DVNR 2k system will be available with Time-Based Licensing, enabling facilities to match their expenditure on functionality to project needs.
