Geevs Multi-Screen Servers - the ideal HD source for Studio Videowalls (28/3/2007)

With the increasing trend to use large Video Walls in TV Studios, Gee Broadcast Systems has released a special "Multi-Screen" application based on their Geevs MR+ server for HD (or SD) Playback to Multiple Screens.

Using one or more Geevs MR+ Servers provides a cost effective multi-channel synchronized output for Video clips to be played out, creating a large dynamic studio backdrop. This approach using High Definition images allows close up shots in the studio without the degradation of the background image that can be seen when using Standard Definition images. Expandable to many channels, this "Multi-Screen" option provides frame accurate synchronized playback across multiple screens to create a seamless background.

This technique has become popular worldwide, particularly in News Studios when Virtual sets are often too expensive or difficult to manage. Clips can be created using standard software tools such as "After Effects"T and transferred to the Geevs MR+ servers via Ethernet or as HD-SDI video. Playback is then managed from a client control PC allowing simple selection of clips with list and looping facilities.

The key factor of operational simplicity has been designed in to suit operation in dynamic live News operations or in Studios used for different program strands at different times.

Geevs Multi-Screen is shipping now and already in operation in Studios in the UK and Greece.
