Hitachi to Introduce SK-HD1000 HDTV Studio Field Production Camera Series at NAB 2007 (30/3/2007)

The new SK-HD1000 HDTV digital production camera series offers Hitachi greatest performance to cost relation in an effort to provide Broadcasters, Production companies, Government and Institutional customers acquisition products that diminish the financial impact of the transition to High Definition.

With the advent of alternative format HDTV cameras on the market, Hitachi fortifies anew its traditional offerings in studio and field production cameras this coming NAB-2007 show. The design concepts of the new Z-series HDTV cameras benefits users by employing the latest generation of 2/3-inch CCD imagers with full raster HDTV pixels (1920X1080 or 1280X720) that provide uncompromising resolution performance and picture fidelity. This new series of HDTV cameras bridges the price gap between its line of SDTV studio/ field production cameras and HDTV ones.

"The SK-HD1000 further benefits our customers by having the ability to be configured for just about every possible application one would need to use an HDTV camera for. The basic offering is for studio and field production that employs hybrid optical fiber cable digital transmission based on SMPTE296M (720p) or 274M (1080i) standards depending on the type of imager opted for. The fiber optic cable conforms to SMPTE311M specifications which guarantee complete transparency in the transmission from the camera to the CCU (Camera Control Unit). Other configurations that are planned but not on exhibit include digital triax, digital wireless transmission using Hitachi's ultra-low latency H.264 codecs and a dockable digital recorder.

The basic performance specifications of the SK-HD1000 are; F11 sensitivity at 2000lx, greater than 56dB for signal to noise ratio. Remote diagnostics, configuration, updates and service contracts will be offered as a result of the implementation of IT-centric communication ports and protocols in this new HDTV camera series.

Hitachi's SK-HD1000 series of HDTV cameras will be available the third quarter of 2007. At the Hitachi NAB 2007 booth C5017; prices based on configuration required will be quoted by Hitachi sales representatives as well as accepting demonstration requests and orders.
