FFV Announces New Recon DVRú With Optional USB, CF, and SDI Features (16/5/2007)

New Features Provide Flexibility in Ultra-Compact Form Factor for Digital Video Applications

Fast Forward Video Inc. (FFV), a recognized innovator of digital video recorder (DVR) technology for broadcast, industrial video, presentation, and military applications, today announced the release of its new Recon DVRú with optional USB, CF, SMPTE timecode, and serial digital interface (SDI) features for increased flexibility.

The Recon DVR is an ultra-compact board-level digital video recorder. At only 2.8 inches by 3.9 inches in size, the Recon occupies the same footprint as a laptop hard drive and can record up to 40 hours of video. In addition to its ability to record video as QuickTimeú files for easy viewing and editing, the Recon now includes the option of a USB 2.0 port to download data directly, as well as a CompactFlash(r) slot to record to CF cards.

Additionally, the Recon is the first board-level recorder to offer SDI, which is commonly used in broadcast and high-end recording. With the SDI I/O option (SMPTE 259M standard), users can now record, transfer, and play back broadcast-quality video in a purely digital environment.

The Recon is optimized for high-quality video recording and playback for embedded system, OEM, compact, and remote/portable applications. It is specifically designed to meet the unique needs of freelance producers, portable broadcast applications, video-assist operators, surveillance and security organizations, video analysts, emergency "first-response" teams, law enforcement, government, and military agencies.

Samples of the Recon with optional features are currently available. Production quantities are also now available with a lead time of four weeks. The cost of the recorder varies by options selected, with a base unit MSRP of $895.
