FFV Announces New Multi-Use Xi Deck to Replace Tape-Based Recording Devices (16/5/2007)

Cost-Effective DVR Provides Single- or Dual-Channel Configurations With Enhanced Functionality, Including Hot-Swappable SATA Drives and SDI I/O

Fast Forward Video Inc. (FFV), a recognized innovator of digital video recorder (DVR) technology for broadcast, industrial video, presentation, and military applications, today announced the release of its new multi-use DVR, the Xi deck. With its intuitive controls and wide array of options, the Xi is designed to deliver high-quality digital recording in a cost-effective solution. An ideal replacement for analog tape decks in broadcast and film production applications, the Xi is a powerful combination of performance, reliability, and innovation.

The new Xi deck provides broadcast-quality digital video in either single- or dual-channel configurations, with a variety of features that can be custom ordered to meet the demands of individual applications, including:

* Fixed or hot-swappable SATA drives * Serial digital interface (SDI) I/O * Video LCD with adjustable viewing angle * Component I/O * SMPTE/EBU time code * Full variable speed playback controls * Time lapse recording * USB 2.0 port * Dual redundant PSU

The Xi features an intuitive front panel touch screen that provides access to record and playback settings including user selectable compression (from 4:1 to 20:1), speed of play, and playlist management.

Xi delivers the advantages of clean digital images and the random-access, non-linear benefits of hard-disk media, as well as the familiar transport controls, inputs, and outputs found on current analog VTRs. The DVR records video as QuickTimeś files for easy transfer and viewing on a PC. The Xi features motion JPEG compression, composite and Y/C I/Os, RS 422 control, two audio channels per video channel, and is compatible with FFV's new Omega-HD deck and the NDT-200.

"We are pleased to offer the new Xi deck to our discerning customers who have come to rely on our image quality and reliability, as well as those who are looking for a high-quality, cost-effective digital replacement for their tape-based devices," said Scott Keating, vice president of sales and marketing for FFV. "The Xi offers several new configurations with either single- or dual-channel configurations and a wide range of functions and features, allowing users to configure their recorders to meet their exact requirements."

The new recorder will soon be available from FFV's worldwide network of distributors for suggested retail prices ranging from $3,495 to $10,995, depending on features ordered.
