EVS presents new products and showcases instant tapeless production workflows at IBC 2007 (21/8/2007)

Don't miss EVS at booth 8.290 at IBC'07!

EVS will showcase its revolutionary instant tapeless production workflows powered by its unique XT[2] server and its famous software applications such as IP Director, Multicam LSM and CleanEdit suite. EVS will also present new products and applications and other significant technology enhancements at its booth!

Instant Tapeless Workflows - The smartest way to move to digital

Feel the strength of instant tapeless technology in terms of speed, flexibility, networking, reliability, and integration with other technologies in any live or studio environment.

* TV Shows and Entertainment * Sport Broadcast - Outside Broadcast Production and Instant Media Server * News Production

TV Shows and Entertainment - Multi Camera ingest, loop recording, review, post production integration

EVS will present tapeless production systems dedicated to Broadcasters and Production companies as they streamline their TV shows and entertainment programme-making. These workflows combine the strengths of the field proven XT[2] server with the simplicity of VTR's, while allowing file and metadata compatibility with any post production environment. The system features the following applications in HD and SD:

* Multi camera ingest and loop recording * Instant preview * Metadata creation and association (logging process) * Clip creation and fast editing * Seamless transfer to post production and NLEs (CleanEdit, Apple Final Cut Pro and Avid Media Composer)

Sport Broadcast - Outside Broadcast Production and Instant Media Server

EVS will showcase the latest technology evolutions and its most advanced workflows dedicated to studio and OB sport broadcasters. The workflow will be presented in two typical configurations: OB trucks for live broadcast production and Instant Media Server for studio live, near-live, post production and repurposing. Both workflows will be featured in full HD configuration with advanced metadata management and seamless integration with third party post production tools. The two workflows will include the following applications:

* Ingest of multiple camera and multi feeds with logging and browsing * Live editing and highlight production (including Live Slow Motion and Super Motion) * Fast and seamless integration with Avid post production based on Avid DNxHD(r) codec * Repurposing for new media delivery (mobile, Internet) * Playback control * New media delivery (lores files)

News Production - Integrated Newsroom Solution

Discover the end-to-end news production system from EVS at IBC07. The system is a full virtual editing process offering limitless integration into existing newsroom infrastructures desktop editing as well as a unique level of reactivity for any news production environment. The workflow presented will highlight the following applications:

* Multiple sources ingest control (lo-res management) * Non-linear editing * Production and workflow management * Interface with NRCS (ENPS, Dalet) and archiving systems (Front Porch Digital Diva Works) * Intuitive and instant play out management and control (no rendering nor file transfer required)

New products and technology updates

* [IP]DIRECTOR * Version 4 - Better control for faster production * Extended XT2 online storage - Increase on-air time * XT2 server with Gigabit Ethernet connection - Faster than real-time file exchanges * [CE] CleanEdit with HD camcorder integration - Shown EVS and Sony booths * Xfile software streaming module - Streamline your production * Edit2Air - Delay Editing System * New Multicam Version 9 - More integration and expanding bandwidth

[IP]DIRECTOR * version 4 - Better control for faster production

EVS integrated production management software will be presented at IBC with a range of new functionalities and tools for more flexibility and adaptability in different workflows and applications. Version 4 of IP Director will be presented with an intuitive production playlist module, a series of dynamic tools for easier and better control of XT[2] servers, and a brand new user interface. Additional metadata management, integration with MAM systems, real time export of logging data and a brand new user interface.

Extended XT[2] online storage - Increase on-air time

EVS will present the new extended storage array for the XT[2] production server. The system aims to offer significant online storage capacity improvement for maximum on-air time. The external storage is presented on a 3RU rack mounted platform equipped with hot swappable disks (5, 10 or 15 disks) allowing a total storage capacity of up to 4.5TB.

XT[2] server with Gigabit Ethernet connection - Faster than real-time file exchanges

At IBC, EVS will demonstrate the new Gigabit Ethernet connection for the XT[2] server allowing faster than real-time file transfers between the server and third party craft editors or storage systems. Aside from the significant advantages in terms of integration with third party tools, the new Gigabit Ethernet connection relieves the EVS XNet[2] high bandwidth network of external transfers, leaving its bandwidth available for live production, whilst transferring files from the XT[2] server to third party devices. Combined with MediaXchange technology, the new Gigabit Ethernet connection will be managed to export selected sequences to new media gateways such as web delivery and 3G phones networks.

[CE] CleanEdit with HD camcorder integration- Shown at EVS and Sony booths

[CE] CleanEdit is the fast and intuitive non-linear editing system that offers full integration with the remote HD camcorder Sony HD XDCAM camcorder. [CE]CleanEdit enables journalists to edit high-def stories in the field, on their laptop computer.

Xfile software streaming module - Streamline your production

Xfile archiving and gateway software now allows automatic streaming of live feeds from the XT[2] to NLEs or onto XFile2 removable hard disk drives. This system offers a faster-than-real-time transfer process to post production while preserving native quality.

Edit2Air - Delay Editing System

Edit2Air is a dedicated workstation that allows content on an XT[2] video server to be edited while playing out directly to air, even when the recording is still in progress. The outputs can be delayed from seconds to hours (e.g. for playout to multiple time zones). The system features intuitive graphical interface with edit and playout timelines, and allows independent audio and video inserts.

New! Multicam version 9 - More integration and expanding bandwidth

At IBC, EVS will present the latest evolutions of its Multicam software. Version 9 offers major third-party integration as well as performance improvement for the XT[2] production server, including the ability to play clips on the XT[2] (e.g. during on-air playback) whilst transferring from NLE or archive systems, as well as a 50% expansion of the XT[2] disk bandwidth.
