News JVC introduces RM-HP250DE camera control unit and RM-LP25U operator control panel to ProHD Range (29/8/2007) Exhibiting at IBC 2007 Stand 10.441 First introduced in 2005, JVC's progressive high definition product range, known as ProHD, has become not only synonymous with high quality, but also its 720p progressive format is already at the leading edge of the HD production and broadcast future. Multi-format compatibility, as well as its favourable acquisition and operating costs, are qualities of ProHD that attract and keep its users. JVC now further demonstrates its ProHD philosophy of affordability with flexibility by the introduction of camera control unit (CCU) and remote operator control panel (OCP), making ProHD camcorders fully studio capable. The CCU, model RM-HP250DE, has everything on board. It is a 1U, rackmountable unit with HD/SD SDI and 26pin inputs. In conjunction with ProHD camcorder GY-HD251 which has both genlock and live uncompressed HD/SD SDI digital output, the RM-HP250DE creates an ideal studio set-up. The system can utilise either a standard multi-core 26 pin cable or the JVC special multicore cable which carries within itself an extra SDI line. Its maximum approved cable run is 100m. RM-HP250DE connects also to the optional RM-LP25U, which is JVC's new OCP. The RM-HP250DE, besides being digital, can operate purely as an analogue controller, which gives it an additional key role as part of a JVC studio upgrade path. RM-HP250DE ties in with the ProHD concept of affordability because of the total cost of any ProHD studio, whether upgrade or new. The RM-LP25U also will connect directly to the remote control socket of GY-HD200, 201 and 251 cameras. For certain situations in the field, this direct way of remotely controlling the camera is ideal. The standard 5m cable length can be extended to 100m. JVC has co-operated with other specialist manufacturers of long-distance outdoor control systems resulting in the RM-LP25U also interfacing with controllers such as Telecast's fibre-optical Copperhead, as demonstrated on the JVC stand at IBC.
