News EVS Releases Multicam v9 Software for its XT[2] SD/HD Family of Servers (2/10/2007) The new release of EVS Multicam software practically redefines video server management within today's deadline-driven, multi-vendor broadcasting environment, according to leading broadcast technology provider EVS Broadcast Equipment. EVS Multicam version 9 not only increases bandwidth on the EVS XT[2] SD/HD family of servers, but now connects to third-party equipment via high-speed Gigabit Ethernet. Acknowledged as a versatile and reliable video server offering unique instant response for live coverage and fast production turn-around, the EVS XT[2] server's bandwidth has been increased by some 50%. Gigabit Ethernet offers fast file transfer via a direct connection to post production and archive systems, while the internal EVS network bandwidth for live production (on the EVS XNet[2]) remains intact. It is also possible to play a clip on an EVS XT[2] server while transferring from Avid equipment, using the 'play while transfer' function on the XT[2] server. "Faster connections and a time-saving background file transfer capability show that integration with other equipment is taken seriously at EVS," says Bernard Stas, General Product Manager at EVS. "Multicam v9 is the result of carefully monitoring market requirements, and harnessing the resources of our dedicated R&D team at EVS to come up with the goods," he adds. Announced at IBC in Amsterdam, Multicam v9 is expected to ship in Q4 2007.
