Sony announces PDW-700 and PDW-HD1500 XDCAM HD 422 camcorder and deck (8/10/2007)

Designed for exacting studio, news and location production environments, Sony also globally announced today the model names, delivery and key features of its latest high-end additions to the market-leading range of XDCAM tapeless products and solutions. The Sony PDW-700 camcorder and PDW-HD1500 recorder are fully featured, Professional Disc products that feature the following specifications:

¥ 2/3" HD Progressive CCD Power HAD(tm) FX ¥ Multi format (1080 and 720) ¥ Full HD (1920 x 1080) ¥ MPEG-2 422P@HL ¥ Up to 50Mbps ¥ 8 channels of audio (camcorder 4ch) ¥ Dual-Layer Professional Disc (50GB) with new generation optical drive ¥ Co-existing with Single-Layer Professional Disc (23.3GB)

This latest XDCAM equipment will be demonstrated together with the 50GB Dual-Layer Professional Disc (PFD50DLA). This new disc, more than doubles the storage and recording capacities of the original single layer version and is ideal for live applications that require long continuous recording.
