News Sony adds new single-format HDC 1450 camera to line-up (8/10/2007) Sony is set to expand its strong camera systems line-up at IBC 2007, with the HDC-1450. This new camera has been designed to meet the specific needs of the European market with triax cabling and 50-frames-per-second shooting speed. The single-format camera system, which operates in either 1080/50i mode or 720/50p mode, offers increased affordability for customers only requiring one format. "Since launching in 2005, 750 of Sony's HDC systems have been sold in the EMEA region alone. The HDC-1450 is part of Sony's commitment to making HD increasingly accessible in Europe. The European region is incredibly diverse and as such we have designed a wide range of products to suit the various needs and budgets of the European broadcast community," said Olivier Bovis, Content Creation General Manager, Sony Europe. The camera set at Sony's IBC 2007 stand will be bigger than ever with 18 cameras on display. In addition to the HDC-1450, the stand will also feature the HDC-1500, the HDC-1550 and the HDC-3300 SuperMotion camera, the only camera on the market to capture full-resolution (1920 x 1080) HD images at three times normal frame rates up to 150i/180i. To add to the systems camera family, Sony is set to launch a T-adapter at IBC for the HDC- 3300. When used together, they allow broadcasters to deliver greater goal-mouth and close proximity sports shots. By improving acquisition flexibility, broadcasters can deliver more exciting action from the sports field to the viewer.
