Drastic Releases Version 3.0 DDR Software (7/11/2007)

Drastic Titan Series, DVC ClipRecorder Provide Fully Integrated Solutions

Drastic Technologies Ltd announced today the release of version 3.0 of Drastic DDR software. The 3.0 software engine is featured in the Drastic's new Titan Series, the Drastic VVW Series, and the ClipRecorder Series digital disk recorders manufactured by Drastic's European Master Distributor, Digitalvideo Computing GmbH (DVC).

"Version 3.0 offers more robust control based on real world experience, a wider range of direct file format support, enhanced SAN compatibility and refinements to its architecture for multi channel and networked applications" explains James Brooks, Head of Development, DDR products.

"Adding to our direct format support helps us satisfy more communities using digital media: editors and CG artists with Final Cut Pro MOV, Sony IMX D-10 support, Telecine operators with ::Film Mode for grading capture and editing, and 4:2:2:4 YCrCb and 4:4:4:4 RGB, Large Format and D-Cinema producers with 24 FPS 2K Film playback with HD-SDI down convert support, HSDL (2K Film at 14.98/15 fps), DPX, TIFF and YUV support up 16 bit per component," Brooks says.

Brooks further indicated that all of the increased functionality of version 3.0 has now been incorporated into the fully integrated digital disk recorders manufactured by Drastic Technologies and DVC. He explained that improvements in Version 3.0 are in keeping with DrasticÕs practice of ongoing customer driven development and include the following:

* Enhancing SAN support now includes CXFS (SGI), BrightSAN (4Bright), XSan (Apple), MetaSAN (Tiger) and StorNext (Quantum, DVS-San, etc) helps facilities use existing storage pipelines.

* Extending serial protocol support to HD-Cam, Sony-SR, DaVinci, Pandora and ValHall adds to the range of supported controllers and increases the ease of integration.

*Increasing display and output flexibility provides standard and large format output for editors and installations with DVI standalone (including up to 16 channels of audio), full screen or windowed VGA monitoring up to 2048x1556 and support of up/down and cross convert between SD, HD and 2K.

*Improving network based control means multiple channels on multiple DDRs can be controlled simultaneously and in sync with fully remotable QuickClipXO and SyncControl GUIs. Remote interface for Mac OS-X (PPC and x86) and customizable HTTP/Ajax web based interface have been added.

"Our focus is on I/O for Telecine and DI workflow, especially with our comprehensive SAN support and dual channel configurations. Our main advantages are a seamless VTR control interface, EDL processing, and our customizable remote interfaces. These are the tools that are required for complete facility integration." James Brooks, head of development, DDR products.
