MXL Announces the MXL USB.009 USB 24Bit/96 kHz Studio Microphone (25/1/2008)

Marshall Electronics, the developer of MXL Studio Microphones, is pleased to introduce the new MXL USB.009, USB powered large gold diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone. The new digital microphone achieves world class sound reproduction while maintaining instant plug and play recording on a Windows(r) PC or Apple Macintosh computer.

The MXL USB.009 is like having a "studio in a mic". Professional talent in the music, broadcast and film industries will appreciate how easy it is to get studio quality sound with an ordinary laptop computer. It is a terrific choice for doing projects away from the studio or production centers.

The MXL USB.009 features a 32 mm pressure gradient condenser capsule with a gold sputtered diaphragm, 24-bit A/D and D/A converters, 96 kHz recording capability and a dynamic range of 114 dB. A low nose analog front end, with front panel gain control, keeps signal at the correct levels before the A/D section. With a 1/8th-inch stereo headphone jack and adjustable level control, the mic provides a convenient means to monitor a recording-with zero latency, while bypassing the computer entirely. The MXL USB.009 also has a mix control for adjusting the balance between playback and the direct source signal-providing a fully self-contained monitoring solution for multitrack recording. An attractive blue LED behind the grill illuminates the large capsule while providing visual confirmation that the microphone is powered and active.
