Harris Corporation Will Showcase Broad Offering of 3 Gb/s Broadcast Products (19/2/2008)

Launch of X3G Extends Market Leadership of Acclaimed X75(tm) All-in-One Processor

Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, will introduce the latest additions to its 3 Gb/s product portfolio at the 2008 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention taking place April 14-17 in Las Vegas (Booth N2502, Las Vegas Convention Center). From signal processing and routing to multiviewers and fiber solutions, Harris offers the industry's most comprehensive range of cost-effective 3 Gb/s-ready products - enabling broadcasters to easily and affordably migrate to the emerging 1080p high-definition format.

At NAB2008, Harris will extend the market leadership of its acclaimed X75(tm) all-in-one processor with the introduction of a new model to the line-up - the X3G. The latest addition to the Harris 3 Gb/s family of products, the X3G is a 1RU, all-in-one converter and synchronizer with optional frame rate conversion or program delay to remove profanity. It offers 8 AES input and output with 32 channels of internal audio processing - features that can also be found in the new and improved X75(tm)HD.

"More and more of our customers are demanding 3 Gb/s-ready products because they want to be sure that infrastructure they build today will last long into the future," said Tim Thorsteinson, president of Harris Broadcast Communications. "Harris is making the decision to invest in a future-proof infrastructure an easy one for our customers. For most of our 3 Gb/s product offerings, customers pay only for 1.5 Gb/s support now, and when 3 Gb/s support is required, they can unlock it with a simple software key."

NAB2008 also marks the worldwide launch of the XHD-3903, the world's first HDTV converter available with built-in 3 Gb/s 1080p 50/59.94 processing and conversion capabilities. Building on the proven XHD-3902 HD conversion series in the NEO(r) advanced application modular platform, the XHD-3903 features I-WINGS sidebar content fill, as well as 8 AES input and output with 32 channels of internal audio processing. In addition, it is the only modular HDTV converter that features integrated Dolby(r) decoding and encoding to handle compressed Dolby(r) streams.

Recently, Harris also began shipping its first fully functional 3 Gb/s routing systems, with the capability to pass 3 Gb/s signals now standard on all HD routing systems purchased from the company's industry-leading Platinum(tm) and Platinum(tm) MX lines. Visitors to the Harris booth at NAB2008 will see these routers, as well as 3 Gb/s capability throughout the core processing workflow, including new distribution amplifiers in the high-quality 6800+(tm) modular core processing platform; a 3 Gb/s video input module for the Videotek(r) TVM/VTM test and measurement instruments; the new Videotek(r) AVM-717 self-contained test and measurement solution that supports the 1080p (3 Gb/s) video format; and a range of OPTO+(tm) fiber products in the 6800+(tm) platform, which offer 3 Gb/s electrical-to-optical and optical-to-electrical conversion capabilities.
