Industry Support Increases for HD 4:2:2 50 Mbps Optical Workflow

Support for Sony's newest generation of XDCAM(r) HD422 technology is increasing across the broadcast and professional video production industries, as leading manufacturers of NLE and server systems develop solutions for maximizing a 50 Mbps 4:2:2 optical disc-based high-definition workflow.

Content captured on Sony's XDCAM HD422 camcorders and deck will, according to these manufacturers, be compatible with products from Adobe Systems, Apple, Building4Media, Cinegy, Convergent Design, Dayang Technology Development Inc., EVS Broadcast Equipment, FOR-A, Harris Corporation, IBE Net Time, Imagine Products, Kaga Electronics, MainConcept, Matrox Video Products Group, MOG Solutions, Newauto(Beijing) Video Technology Co.Ltd, Omneon, Inc., Quantel, Sakura-Eiki, SeaChange International, Sobey Digital Technology, Sony Creative Software, Telestream, Thomson.

"In addition to broadcast and ENG, XDCAM HD technology can also benefit video professionals in corporate, education and cinematography applications," said Bob Ott, vice president of professional and optical products for Sony Electronics. "The enhanced features of Sony's newest generation of XDCAM HD products and committed support from third-party developers take the workflow potential to a new level for a range of applications."

Sony's XDCAM(r) Professional Disc(tm) system is the most widely used professional tapeless acquisition system, with more than 31,000 units delivered worldwide.

The system's level of third-party interoperability demonstrates its ability to work well and communicate with as many complementary products as possible, allowing users, regardless of their editing platform, to enjoy the workflow efficiencies and cost-effectiveness of optical production.
