News Cintel shows faster 4K workflow and new film scanner features (27/8/2008) Cintel to show faster 4K workflow and new film scanner features at IBC 2008 14th August 2008 - At IBC 2008 on stand 7.B18 Cintel International will be showing a number of exciting new features for its range of film scanners and image enhancement tools. Cintel will be showing a new, faster 4K workflow utilising a dataMill film scanner and DVS' Clipster running at 5fps (frames per second). This very high rate of 4K data is transferred using the HSDL interface which is widely recognised as the most cost effective and efficient method of data transfer. Cintel Business Development Manager Simon Clark said; "There are a number of fast 4K scanning speeds being suggested but we are able to achieve a sustained five frames per second without the need for expensive, and almost proprietary, interfaces or any specialised equipment." Cintel will also be showing, for the first time in Europe, the "X-Speed" Digital servo system for the Millennium family of film scanners. This in-field upgrade consists of hardware and software to provide vertical and horizontal stability that exceeds that of any other constant motion film transport. The X-Speed system is now standard on all new MillenniumHD and dataMill machines. The X-Speed system will also allow a new faster Pin Registration speed. X-Speed is available as an upgrade to Millennium, MillenniumII, MillenniumHD and dataMill machines. Millennium HD and dataMill are the only film scanners capable of real time SD and HD, fast (15fps) 2K and 4K data with film gauges 8/S8/MAX8mm, 16/S16mm, 35/S35mm, 65/70mm. A number of new features for the diTTo will be shown at IBC. diTTo, the fastest pin registration scanner available, will have the ability to simultaneously provide either SD or HD output to coincide with the 2K or 4K scans. This new feature will allow "video" output for offline editing, for example, at the same time as the master 2K or 4K scans. New workflow integration tools will also be announced at the show. Cintel will also be showing new imageMill enhancements. imageMill GRACE and GRACE_SR (which gives real-time recursive correction in addition to spatial correction in only a single frame of delay) now includes a revised "Detail" control which has been developed in conjunction with a leading London Post House to provide a natural, yet very powerful, aperture correction effect. imageMill STEADY - the only real time image stabiliser with full post production quality will also be on display at IBC.
