News ToolsOnAir introduces LiveCut tapeless multi camera workflow system (29/8/2008) Software maker ToolsOnAir and post-production supervisor Christof Halasz are introducing a tapeless multi camera workflow system for daily soap productions and near-live events at the International Broadcasting Conference (IBC) in Amsterdam. "LiveCut" significantly reduces the editing time of multi camera productions by completely eliminating the time consuming tasks known from traditional tape based workflows. While recording from up to 8 cameras simultaneously, "LiveCut" records an visionmixers edits and other metadata directly to the recorded Quicktime media files; footage is automatically tracklayed and ready for editing as a multiclip timeline in Final Cut Pro within seconds after the recording. Therefore, the visionmixers edits are processed into real edits in the multiclip timeline. Productions using LiveCut save valuable time that is otherwise wasted on capturing tapes, logging footage or other tedious manual tasks. Easy Integration LiveCut integrates easily into existing multi-camera setups. While recording from up to 8 cameras simultaneously, LiveCut records visionmixers edits and meta data directly to the recorded Quicktime media files which can later be re-edited in Final Cut Pro as an edited multi-clip timeline. "Together with Telestream's "Pipeline" ingest solution, LiveCut offers a low-cost, low-space & low-power solution for use in OB-vans," says Gilbert Leb, Director of ToolsOnAir. About LiveCut Developed by post-production supervisor Christof Halasz and software maker ToolsOnAir, LiveCut has quickly gained reputation amongst producers of daily soaps and near-live events. With LiveCut's tapeless multi camera workflow, footage is automatically tracklayed and ready for editing within seconds after the recording.
