News DVS presents its Spycer data management software with improved reliability and flexibility (29/8/2008) At IBC 2008 in Amsterdam, DVS presents at stand 7.E21 their Spycer(r) data management software with many new features. Improved reliability and speed in Spycer(r) networks make professional content management with Spycer(r) easier than ever. Hanover/Amsterdam. At stand 7.E21 of the IBC 2008, DVS Digital Video Systems AG presents their stand-alone software Spycer(r) with new features. Content management for data intensive post production, broadcast and presentation applications is now much easier and more user-friendly. With Spycer(r), network administrators can define and manage computer groups for a SpycerNet independent of the existing infrastructure. Using a password-protected administrator account, computers are assigned to SpycerNet groups. This significantly increases the security of a peer-to-peer network. Since the administrator can build on existing networks, the system is very flexible. The copying speed on Ethernet-based TCP/IP lines has been increased substantially. The data transfer rates are now very close to the physical limits, which means that the copying processes are significantly faster than those of the various operating systems. The new efficient multicast process in SpycerNet - a scalable content management network - frees the user from subnet limitations. Thus, data can now be managed with maximum flexibility in any type of IT infrastructure. Being an open system Spycer(r) supports conventional IT infrastructures as well as all DVS products. The SpycerLink technology, now available on each workstation with Spycer(r), makes it possible to establish a fast InfiniBand connection to the SpycerBox NAS solution, easily and cost-effectively. Since data transfer rates as high as approx. 500 MB/s are possible, transfer times are now much shorter. In total, the DVS software is capable of identifying more than 100 image and container formats and displaying them on its integrated media player. Furthermore, the integrated converter has been updated to also support other important formats. Konstantin Schinas, DVS Product Manager: "We are really pleased to be able to provide our users with even more reliability, speed and flexibility within their Spycer(r) network. The optimized feature set makes post-production content management even more efficient and user-friendly than before."
