SGO announces Mistika real-time support for Red One's native R3D format (16/4/2009)

SGO, a leading European developer of high-end solutions for the post production and broadcast industries, is delighted to announce that following an agreement with Red Digital Cinema, SGO Mistika now has full capability to support Red One's native R3D format files and can play them out to tape without the need for any conversion. What differentiates this new SGO Mistika feature from other products out there at the moment is that SGO Mistika is now able to play out Red One R3D files natively on tape in real-time. This recent innovative step is in response to an increasing market demand. It is now possible for SGO Mistika users to work directly with Red One archives just as they are, straight from the camera, without the hassle of format conversions or any other offline equipment needed.

This is a real advantage for SGO Mistika users working with Red One Camera footage as it means that performance, speed and SGO Mistika's unrivalled colour grading functions are also significantly enhanced in the process. SGO Mistika Operators now have more time to be creative when working with Red One files.

SGO Mistika's real-time play-out and 4K Resolution are the key features in the system, especially in relation to Red One Camera footage. These enable the SGO Mistika artist to conform; colour grade and post produce directly from the R3D archive with no need to convert archives in external tools. In addition, considerable disk space is saved as a result of not having to convert Red One file formats into large DPX files. This in turn has a definite knock-on effect, by also reducing production time and thereby increasing Red One and SGO Mistika's efficiency to work in synchronisation together on projects.

Another main attribute that makes SGO's Mistika different to other systems is that its capacity to support Red One is encompassed in its "One 4 All" philosophy that embraces its power to combine editing, conforming, compositing, image restoration, multi-mastering and colour grading ALL in one post production system, where all tasks can be accomplished interactively, while being evaluated in their global context. Instead of segmenting these abilities into separate products, SGO has always combined all of those capabilities and functions together in one powerful post-production system, thereby enabling users to literally offer their clients a complete one-stop solution.

"SGO Mistika and particularly the excellent support we have received from SGO, have also allowed us here at Concrete to offer our clients the benefits of new technology before our competitors. We were the first London facility to post produce a music video project shot with the Red One camera back in November 2007. With the aid of SGO, we have developed an excellent Red One workflow that provides our clients with the powerful real-time tools they are used to, so they can complete their Red One projects in confidence." Confirmed David Cox, Managing Director, Concrete Post Production Ltd. Concrete post produced Jonathan Ansell's music video using Mistika, titled: "Now we are Free" filmed by Stuart Gosling using the Red One Camera

This new innovation is currently available for all existing SGO Mistika customers who currently hold an SGO maintenance contract.
