DVS Premieres VENICE video server for Professional Video and Broadcast (17/4/2009)

At NAB 2009, DVS will introduce VENICE, a server for video content typically used in broadcast environments. VENICE supports compressed formats such as Avid DNxHD®, XDCAM® or DVCPRO® for fast, secure and reliable processing of digital video content.

In booth SL6920 DVS will launch an all-new product line specifically suited for the broadcast market. The VENICE broadcast video server captures data directly from cameras, tape recorders, P2 cards or hard drives. Material can be accessed and processed directly with multiple editing systems. VENICE provides two independent pairs of video channels for ingest and play-out.

The VENICE broadcast video server enables users to achieve fast, consistent workflows with compressed video formats. Different data formats can be converted on-the-fly. VENICE also supports parallel processing of SD and HD projects.

With the introduction of VENICE, DVS leverages its longstanding expertise in digital film processing to meet the tapeless workflow requirements of professional video and broadcast. By supporting compressed formats such as Avid DNxHD®, as well as the XDCAM® and DVCPRO® family, essential MXF variants can now be easily and securely used in file-based workflows. VENICE optimizes workflows by combining the reliability and performance of established DVS processing systems with the demands of future-proof broadcasting.

Bernhard Reitz, DVS Head of Product Management: “Broadcasters are faced with unique demands for time sensitive content delivery while maintaining high quality. With the introduction of VENICE, we are delighted to offer a powerful toolset that gives broadcasters the flexibility they need to migrate into a tapeless and file-based workflow environment.”
